About

Everybody is wrong.

No, we don’t mean those idiots who voted for the wrong candidate last election, believe in the wrong god(s), or spend too much/little money. Politics, religion, and personal finance are the clearest examples of groupthink and mass delusion, but they’ve already been beaten to death by everyone and their dog, including our friends Scott AdamsSam Harris, and Paula Pant, so this blog doesn’t touch any of those subjects.

(EDIT: I decided there is still a lot of ground to cover in Personal Finance, at least from the standpoint of strategic optimization)

Instead, this blog examines other aspects of life in which following the crowd can be wrong or even dangerous. There’s no safety in numbers, but there is complacency. And like lemmings, we follow the crowd so blindly that we believe ridiculous myths such as Lemming Suicide.

This blog is fairly free-form, so aside from our taboo subjects anything is fair game. Nobody, not even the authors, will agree with everything on this site. The more uncomfortable you feel, the more new ideas you’re holding in your head, even if you ultimately reject them. This is a good thing.

If everyone agrees on an opinion, that’s your indicator to try on the opposing view. You might not like it, like an ugly hat, but that’s okay. You can always take it off. If you like it, though, then you might have just saved society.
